most of the budget, as you know, our mandatory programs, social security, medicare, veterans programs. that's by far the lion share of the budget. and the next biggest share is the defense. that's not part of what the president is disgusting. he is talking about a shared the budget that is about 16217 that the overall budget, about one seventh of the budget that is domestic discretionary spending and here's proposing a freeze in those categories. so they're certainly not going to solve the problem. you will make a modest contribution to reducing long-term deficits and debt, although to make a contribution that grows over time, which is very important. much more has to be done as the white house has acknowledged.
